Katedra za turizam pokrenula je 2005. godine jedinstveni međunarodni program specijalne edukacije studenata smjera Turizam pod nazivom ITHAS (International Tourism & Hospitality Academy at Sea). ITHAS je postao renomirani program iskustvenog učenja u svijetu u kojem studenti u međunarodnom i multikulturalnom okruženju prezentiraju i raspravljaju o razvoju turizma u svojim zemljama, slušaju predavanja i sudjeluju u raspravama i seminarima koje vode istaknuti profesori iz cijeloga svijeta te uče o održivom razvoju turizma na praktičnim primjerima i susretima sa stručnjacima iz prakse tijekom sedmodnevnog obilaska brodom različitih destinacija na itineraru. Program podržava i Svjetska turistička organizacija u okviru Ulysses Foundation - globalne inicijative koja prepoznaje i promovira izvornost u upravljanju znanjem u turizmu. Eminentni predavači koji su dosad predavali na ITHAS-u, članovi su Svjetske turističke akademije.

ITHAS has developed into a globally recognized experiential learning program where students present and discuss tourism development in their home countries in an international and multicultural environment, listen to lectures and participate in discussions and seminars led by prominent professors from around the world, and learn about sustainable tourism development through practical examples and discussions with experts in the field during a seven-day boat tour to various destinations on the program. The program is supported by the World Tourism Organization as part of the Ulysses Foundation - a global initiative that recognizes and promotes originality in knowledge management in tourism. The renowned lecturers who have taught at ITHAS so far are members of the International Academy for the Study of Tourism.
