Brown bag seminar će održati prof. Ismir Mulalić (Copenhagen Business School) koji će prezentirati rad pod naslovom "The Geography of Life: Evidence from Copenhagen".

We use newly constructed individual-level panel data for Denmark covering more than 30 years to understand the origins and consequences of spatial sorting by age and family status within cities. Based on our reduced-form evidence that disentangles sorting by age and family status from correlated individual effects, we develop a quantitative urban model with heterogeneity by skill, age, and family status. We use the quantified model to show that the most important mechanism driving spatial sorting is heterogeneity in preferences for local amenities, which highlights importance of amenities for understanding the spatial organization of cities. Finally, we use the model to explore the effect of demographic change such as population aging, falling fertility, and increasing numbers of single households on cities and find that their combined effect on cities will be substantially more muted than the effect of any of these changes on their own.

Ismir Mulalić je izvanredni profesor ekonomije na Copenhagen Business School. Njegovo istraživanje bavi se primijenjenom mikroekonomijom i mikroekonometrijom, s posebnim naglaskom na urbanu ekonomiju i ekonomiju transporta. U svom radu proučava kako tržišta nekretnina, prometni sustavi i javne politike oblikuju stambene i tržišno-radne ishode. Njegova novija istraživanja obuhvaćaju teme poput tržišta nekretnina i stambenog sortiranja, dnevnih migracija te rodnih razlika na tržištu rada, imigracije i stambene mobilnosti, kao i produktivnosnih i distribucijskih učinaka prometne infrastrukture. Magistrirao je i doktorirao ekonomiju na Sveučilištu u Kopenhagenu, a prethodno je radio na Tehničkom sveučilištu Danske (DTU) i u Kraks Fond (Institute for Urban Economic Research).

O Brown Bag seminaru:
Brown bag seminar (BBS) predstavlja neformalnu radionicu u trajanju od sat vremena s ciljem prezentiranja istraživanja u različitim fazama izrade (ideje, zaokruženi teorijski okvir, provedena empirijska istraživanja, itd.), promicanja diskusije i stvaranja stimulativnog okruženja usmjerenog konstruktivnoj raspravi između izlagačice/-a i preostalih sudionika seminara. Osnovna ideja BBS-a jest stvoriti platform na kojoj će, minimalno jednom mjesečno, zaposlenici EFZG-a dobiti priliku prezentirati ideje i članke na kojima rade u sklopu svog znanstveno-istraživačkog rada. Pozivamo vas da se odazovete i pomognete svojim konstruktivnim komentarima izlagačicama/-ima, te sami izložite teme na kojim trenutno radite, neobjavljene radove ili prezentirate istraživačke ideje o kojima razmišljate.
Zamišljeno je da prezentacije (na engleskom ili na hrvatskom jeziku - zavisno od preferencija izlagačice/-a) traju 30-40 min, nakon čega slijedi diskusija.
