2nd International Conference "Legal and Economic Aspects of Corporate Governance - Market Transparency and Disclosure in Private and Public Companies"




Dear colleagues,

It is our great pleasure to welcome you in Zagreb, Croatia for the 2nd International Conference “Legal and Economic Aspects of Corporate Governance - Market Transparency and Disclosure in Private and Public Companies” in organization of the Jean Monnet Chair/Department of Law Faculty of Economics & Business University of Zagreb and the Judicial Academy of the Republic of Croatia.
The goal of the 2nd International Conference “Legal and Economic Aspects of Corporate Governance - Market transparency and disclosure in Private and Public Companies” is to discuss market transparency and disclosure in order to increase number of investments and make proper market playing field for the private and public companies while operating on the European Union Internal Market and nationally. The importance of market transparency and disclosure is accentuated in different European Union documents that concern corporate governance, as well it is of outmost importance for the protection of investors, minority shareholders, creditors and all stakeholders. Disclosure and transparency are the partners of good governance as they demonstrate the quality and reliability of information. They affect on the cost of capital, increase confidence among decision-makers and enable them to make good business decisions. Disclosure and transparency serve as a deterrent to fraud and corruption and are closely connected with good auditing regulations and practices.
This conference gives an opportunity to analyze what changes have been brought after the financial crisis and recession and especially to explore changes which occurred in the area of corporate governance in last two years after the 1st International Corporate Governance Conference „Corporate governance – new experiences: implementation in South Eastern Europe.“ Moreover, the purpose of the conference is to analyze what are the best practices of the European Union Member States and to answer the question what and how they should be implemented into the Croatian law and practice.
