The project entitled "The Development of the Innovative Educational Method of ACCESSIBLE Tourism in Central Europe" is carried out within the Erasmus+ programme, and the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Zagreb is one of the four partners of the project. The project coordinator is the University of Pécs (Hungary), and in addition to UNIZG, the University Sapientia Din Municipiul Cluj-Napoca (Romania) and the Adam Mickiewicz University (Poland) are also involved in the project.

The aim of the project is to develop a framework for the transfer of innovative knowledge that can be applied in tourism practice and promote the improvement of accessibility and the further expansion and development of accessible tourism provision; the identification of best practice examples at international level; the systematization of existing literature; the development of learning materials as a new element of training for students specializing in the field of tourism and hospitality; the creation of a platform for the exchange of knowledge on accessible tourism and raising awareness of the need for its development. The project activities include research activities, the creation of learning materials, the implementation of workshops for stakeholders whose activities are closely related to the field of accessible tourism, the development of innovative methods for the transfer of knowledge about accessible tourism and the dissemination of research results.
The project results are thematically organised in three work packages:
  1. The main outcome of WP2 is the collection of best practise examples from each participating partner country. In addition, a systematic literature review, a situation assessment and analysis will be carried out and a questionnaire will be completed to provide the basis for further project work.
  2. WP3 deals with the development of a learning material that represents a new element in the training of tourism and hospitality students to be introduced in all four participating countries. A learning material for a whole semester (13 lectures and seminars, 52 lessons, learning material) will be created, which will enable accessible tourism to be taught as a stand-alone course. In addition, learning material modules will be created that can be integrated into the curricula of various tourism subjects.
  3. In WP4 the following activities are carried out: an innovative teaching methodology will be devised in the languages of the participating partners for the effective delivery of the course. During the teaching of the subjects, every effort will be made to apply the innovative teaching methodology, for which a methodological aid will also be prepared.
The respective elements of the course as well as the modules will be tested in a pilot training programme with the involvement of international practise. Corrections and further developments will be made where necessary using the findings and experience from the pilot test.

Electronic versions of the learning materials (e-platform) will also be developed in order to make the research results accessible to as many people as possible and to enable a wide range of opportunities for learning about accessible tourism, including the form of distance learning.
