The 8th Šoljan Conference on Competition Law and Policy, Dubrovnik, May 25 to 27, 2023

The 8th Šoljan Conference on Competition Law and Policy on the topic "Goals of Competition Law and the Changing World" will be held in Dubrovnik from May 25 to 27, 2023.

The conference is organized by the Faculty of Economics of the University of Zagreb and EDC-KDC EFZG, the Croatian Competition Agency and the Croatian Competition Law and Policy Association.

This conference honours the memory of the late Professor Vedran Šoljan (1962-2008), one of Croatia’s competition law pioneers. It traditionally offers a platform for discussion about recent developments in the area of EU and national competition law. It has a particular focus on the countries of Central and East Europe (CEE) and South-East Europe (SEE).

This year the keynote lecture on "Antitrust goals" will be held by Professor Spencer W. Waller (Loyola University Chicago). Speakers from the institutions such as the Court of Justice of the EU, the European Commission, national competition authorities, law firms, and universities from Croatia and abroad will discuss topics such as private enforcement of competition law, judicial review of competition authority decisions, application of Art. 102 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, and the institutional resilience of competition authorities. In addition, several compliance workshops will be held, which are of interest particularly for practitioners and corporate lawyers.
