Internship Advertisement in U.S. Commercial Service

U.S. Commercial Service, part of the U.S. Embassy Zagreb, is seeking enthusiastic and motivated students interested in international business for internship opportunities in 2019. Ideal candidates are in their 3rd year or older, fluent in English with ability to work at least 20 hours per week.
Who are we?
U.S. Commercial Service promotes and protects U.S. commercial interests abroad and delivers customized solutions to ensure that U.S. businesses compete and win in the global work place.  Our office analyzes information on the Croatian market, facilitates contacts with Croatian businesses, promotes U.S. products in Croatian marketplace, and advocates U.S. business interests. We assist trade missions to Croatia and provide logistical support to U.S. companies holding product launches and exhibitions.
 
What you’ll do?
During this internship, you’ll be working closely with the office staff on assignments that will provide exposure to a full range of our activities and services, including:
  • Collecting and analyzing information for market research reports
  • Responding to enquiries from U.S. companies
  • Assisting in the preparation of trade events and trade missions
  • Assisting with U.S. Commercial Service programs focused on export promotion
  • Recruit Croatian companies for upcoming trade shows in the United States

Requirements
Our interns should be curious about the business world and eager to learn new things.  They must be able to assert themselves and not be afraid to ask questions.  Attention to detail is important, as we deal with a variety of companies and delicate business situations.  As many of the correspondents and employees of the Embassy are from the U.S. or abroad, it’s also important that our interns have a good comprehension of English.  Our requirements are:
  • Be in 3rd, 4th or final year of studies
  • Fluent in English
  • Able to work minimum 20 per week, and total of 500 hours
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited American or Croatian college or university and returning to education after the internship ends (important!)
  • In possession of a U.S. or Croatian passport
