Nika Šimurina is a Full Professor in the Department of Finance at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Zagreb, Croatia. She earned her B.Sc. in Law in 1998 from Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb, M.Sc. in Economics in 2003, and Ph.D. in Economic in year 2008, all from the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Zagreb. She joined the faculty in year 1999. At FEB, she teaches the following courses: Public Finance, Tax System of the Republic of Croatia and International Aspects of Taxation in the undergraduate university program. She is also the coordinator for Introduction to Regulation in the graduate professional program. Nika Šimurina has also taught following courses throughout her academic career: Comparative fiscal systems, Social Psychology of Finance and Personal Finance as well as Public Finance in the BDIB program. She attended numerous professional seminars, workshops and training in the field of finance, such as study stay at the University of Maryland in Washington DC in February 2002, then participation in "6. Internationales Colloquium der NPO Forscher" in Munich in March in 2004. In July 2007 she was a scholarship holder of the European Entrepreneurship Colloquium on Participant Centered Learning Program at the Harvard Business School in Boston and from October 2007 to January 2008, she was at the University of California at Berkeley as a Visiting Scholar at International & Area Studies. In October 2017, she was on a study stay in Norway at the University of Bergen and Norwegian School of Economics/NHH as part of the mobility program of the University of Zagreb. In June 2022, as part of the CENETSIE project, she participated in the Research Workshop on Innovation, Poznan University of Economics and Business, in Krakow, Poland. Nika Šimurina was the Head of the Department of Finance in two mandate periods from 2018 to 2022. She served as an evaluator of Initial Grants for Scientific Research of the University of Rijeka. She served as a reviewer for the State Prize for Science of the Republic of Croatia, as well as reviewer of many international scientific journals such as Economic Review, Review for social policy, Croatian Operational Research Review (CRORR), Economic thought and practice, Zagreb International Review of Economics and Business, Proceedings of the Faculty of Economics in Zagreb. In January 2018, she received the Outstanding Conference Participant Award B&ESI for exceptional contribution and participation at international scientific conferences in the organization of B&ESI. Nika Šimurina has served as a mentor for numerous seminar papers, final theses, and graduate theses. She actively publishes both independently and in collaboration, contributing to international and domestic journals as well as proceedings from international scientific conferences. Furthermore, she has continually enhanced her education through participation in various scientific and professional conferences and workshops. Over the last decade, she has been deeply involved in tax literacy education programs both within and outside the faculty and has presented at numerous professional and specialist seminars.
