Biography
Ana Ivanisevic Hernaus, PhD, graduated V. mathematical grammar school in Zagreb. In 2005 she graduated Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Zagreb. She finished Specialist Postgraduate Studies New Europe Master in Banking and Entrepreneurship in Treviso, Italy (2006) along with Financial Institutions and Markets in Zagreb, at the Faculty of Economics and Business (2009). Upon completing University Postgraduate Doctoral study programme with doctoral thesis titled „Development of socially responsible investment through different investment strategies” in 2013, she achieved an academic degree and the title Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), field economics, specialisation finance.
During 2006 she worked in risk management sector at Unicredit Group, Milano. Furthermore, she worked in Zagrebacka banka d.d. as a credit risk analyst, and in 2008 she was hired as a research associate at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Zagreb on the MZOS project “Models of Market Financing for Public Interest Purposes”. In 2013 she was promoted to senior assistant, since 2016 she has been employed as an assistant professor and since 2021 as an associate professor at the Department of Finance.
She teaches courses of Financial Institutions and Markets (both in Croatian and English study programmes) and Commercial Banking. She developed a new course on Sustainable Finance. She also gained international experience by teaching abroad, at Berlin School of Economics and Law, Germany. In academic year 2014/2015 she received the best teacher award in the Bachelor's Degree in Business Study programme. She has also mentored numerous seminar papers, business projects, final papers and graduate theses.
She is the author or co-author in several published scientific papers. She actively participates at domestic and international conferences and seminars. She has regularly attended various educations in the fields of scientific research and teaching. She was a visiting scholar at the renowned research centre in the field of economics and business economics CentER at the University of Tilburg, the Netherlands.
She served as a Management Committee member and a collaborator in COST Action (CA19130) Fintech and Artificial Intelligence in Finance: Towards a Transparent Financial Industry (2020-2024), financed by the European Cooperation in Science & Technology (COST). She is a member of the CAMRisk Research Centre at the University of Pavia, Department of Economics and Management, and a researcher at the international “ESG Disclosure and Risk in Supply Chain Companies” project.
She has served on the programme committees of several international scientific conferences and was the Chairperson of the Organizing Committee of the International Scientific Conference Technology, Innovation and Stability: New Directions in Finance (TINFIN), which was held in Zagreb in 2022. She has been a reviewer of numerous scientific and professional papers.
She also served as a member of the Expert Committee on the Audit of Quality Assurance Systems at Higher Education Institutions in the Republic of Croatia, (Croatian) Agency for Science and Higher Education (ASHE). Until now, she has acted as a member of several committees of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Zagreb, including the Sustainability Committee (since October 2024). She is a member of the Forum to Support Sustainable Financing, established by the Government of the Republic of Croatia.
In 2014, she received the Dr Pero Jurkovic Recognition from the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Zagreb for her doctoral thesis. She also won the international EDAMBA Thesis Competition 2015, organized by the European Doctoral Association in Management and Business Administration. In 2023, she received the Mijo Mirkovic award from the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Zagreb for publishing an academic paper, in co-authorship, with highlighted scientific contributions in economics.
She is a native Croatian speaker, as well as an active speaker of English and Italian and a passive speaker of German.
