University elective course "Peer support for students with disabilities" in academic year 2022./2023.

Information on the university elective course "Peer support for students with disabilities", available for enrolment to all students who are enrolled in any constituent unit (faculty / academy) of the University of Zagreb at the undergraduate, graduate or postgraduate level of study, can be found below.

The course leader is the University of Zagreb, and the contractor is the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences of the University of Zagreb. The course is held in two parts: the first part refers to the preparatory workshop (which takes place at the beginning of the semester – during the weekend), and the second part to the provision of peer support and regular group consultations – supervision. 

The course lasts one semester and carries 5 ECTS credits. 

The requirement for enrollment is knowledge of a student with a disability (for the purposes of this course - a student with visual impairment, hearing or motor skills) who needs peer support and who agrees that you are the one who supports him ("couple"). Also, it is necessary that you as a "couple" be from the same study program and the same study year.

Examples of support in the academic environment include support upon arrival at the faculty, movement around the faculty premises, writing notes from lectures, solving administrative procedures, monitoring classes (e.g. verbaldescription of visual content), support in various social situations such as mediation in communication, personal support as needed and agreed, etc.
