On Monday, January 25, 2021, starting at 5 pm in the Congress Hall of the Faculty of Economics & Business - Zagreb, the ceremonial opening of the postgraduate university doctoral study Economics and Global Security took place.
The opening was virtually attended by the fifth generation of doctoral students together with the lecturers and the management of the Faculty. The doctoral study Economics and Global Security is the first interdisciplinary study of this type in Croatia, and in addition to professors from the Faculty of Economics & Business, professors from several other higher education institutions, including the Faculty of Political Science and the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Zagreb.
After the initial address by the Head of the Study, Prof. Tonći Lazibat, Ph.D., the floor took Prof. Damir Boras, Ph.D., the Rector of the University, followed by Assoc. Prof. Kosjenka Dumančić, Ph.D., Vice Dean of the Faculty, and Prof. Lajoš Žager, Ph.D., the Chairman of the Council of the Social Humanities of the University, who welcomed the students. Besides, they stressed the importance of doctoral studies that offer new research opportunities for students and confirm the status of the Faculty of Economics & Business as a leading higher education institution and a place where innovative study programs are developed that follow global market trends and enable the development of top professionals. This status is confirmed by the prestigious AACSB accreditation.

After the completion of the protocol part of the opening, classes for doctoral studies for the fifth generation of studies began.
