Career overview
Ingeborg Matečić is an Associate Professor at the Department of Tourism, Faculty of Economics and Business at The University of Zagreb. She holds a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.  Furthermore, she holds double doctoral degree (Cotutelle de thèse) in Economics with the specialization in Tourism Economics from The University of Quintana Roo, Division of Social Sciences and Administrative Economics, Mexico and The University of Zagreb, Faculty of Economics and Business, Croatia. She works at Department of Tourism from 2009.
 
Research areas
Her main fields of research interest encompass cultural tourism, experience economy and socio-cultural sustainability in the context of sustainable tourism development.
 
External activity
She is an active member of Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts and Croatian Ethnological Society. In 2024, she served on the Croatian National Tourist Board's committee for selecting the winner of the annual cultural tourism award.  As a yoga teacher, she has been volunteering for over 15 years, not only leading yoga classes by the system “Yoga in daily life” for various age groups but also actively participating in non-profit humanitarian organization “Yoga in daily life” and “World Peace Council” supporting initiatives such as the World Peace Conferences, peace tree planting, and water harvesting projects.
