Edward Elgar Publishing House Publishes Editorial Book "Becoming an Organizational Scholar: Navigating the Academic Odyssey"

In January 2021, the UK-based Edward Elgar Publishing published the editorial book “Becoming an Organizational Scholar: Navigating the Academic Odyssey”. The editors of the book, Assoc. Prof. Tomislav Hernaus, Ph.D. (Department of Organization and Management, Faculty of Economics & Business, University of Zagreb) and Assoc. Prof. Matej Černe, Ph. (Department of Management and Organization, Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana) presented the idea of a unique or authentic scientist, who successfully goes through his academic Odyssey.
The book contains personal stories of world-renowned scientists under the age of 45,  with academic success gained across 17 different European and North and South American countries at 31 higher education institutions (e.g. Case Western Reserve University, IE Business School, London School of Economics, INSEAD, Stanford University, Technical University of Munich, Warwick Business School, WU Vienna, etc.).
Reflecting on their academic beginnings and career challenges, through introspection and narrative chapters, the authors clarify the definition and describe the academy, its activities, roles, and various aspects related to academic work. They present their own views on the factors of academic success, as well as on possible mistakes and limitations, offering potential solutions and mechanisms to face the challenges of career development in the academic environment.
Although the book is primarily intended for an increasing number of doctoral candidates and researchers who are at the beginning of their academic maturation, it will also be of interest to doctoral mentors, doctoral study leaders, scientists working at universities and business schools around the world, as well as academic associations in the field of organization and management.
