Department of Demography 
as a separate organizational unit of the Faculty of Economics & Business – Zagreb was founded in 1996 and is the only department of this kind in Croatia. But demography studies at the Faculty of Economics have a 50-year long tradition.

Demography as a course was introduced in the curriculum in 1953 within the Department of Statistics.

Demography gives the students insight into population development, migration, population structure, changes in population structure with an emphasis on demographic aspects of workforce and employment and methods of demographic analysis. Demography for economists is especially important for those dealing with economic development, employment, economic structures, economic and social policy, market analysis, spending and demand etc.

Following courses are taught within this department in the third year of Economics studies: Demography, Labour Economics and Sociology of Economics.
