Faculty of Economics & Business - Zagreb

Dean's Awards Bestowed

Prof. Jurica Pavičić, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Economics & Business - Zagreb, on May 5, 2021, bestowed the Dean's Awards to the students in the following categories:
  • Seminar Paper:
Filip Fučkan - "Liability of members of the management board of a joint-stock company for the damage to the company and the company's creditors"
  • Filip is a fourth-year student majoring in Analysis and Business Planning.
  • He is currently working at Unicredit Leasing Croatia.
"The knowledge gained at the faculty is very useful in my daily tasks. Of the skills acquired at the faculty, I would certainly highlight the multitude of group projects that have prepared me well for teamwork. It can often be heard as a critique that too much focus is placed on theory, but from my experience, a good theoretical background helped me to stand out in a selection interview and to quickly grasp all business tasks. The Dean's Award is a kind of recognition of my academic career so far. It is also a great incentive for further progress, both in the sense of research and in private advancement."

  • Graduate Theses:
Ernest Bagarić - "The Impact of Climate Change on Banks' Operations"
  • In 2020, Ernest graduated from the Faculty of Economics & Business in Zagreb, majoring in Finance.
  • After graduation from the faculty as part of the scholarship he received during his studies, he was immediately employed by the Croatian National Bank in the Creditworthiness Supervision Department.
"The knowledge gained at the faculty is necessary for daily work which would be impossible without them. This refers to the large amount of information acquired during the study, but also the logical processes that help in learning new things. In elementary school, we played most of the time and that was nice. In high school, we have detected that learning and science can be interesting. At the faculty, we went one step further, finding out that learning can and should be useful. At the faculty, we also learned how important it is to write professional articles, and we also learned how to write them. This Dean's Award is like a bridge that connects a happy period of study and a responsible period of research."

Kristijan Jakolić - "The impact of country risk premium on the operations of banks in the Republic of Croatia"
  • Kristijan took his degree in Finance.
  • He works at Pliva/Teva in the post of a global transfer pricing analyst.
"The knowledge and skills I have acquired at the faculty helped me a lot in adapting to the work environment and are a good basis for further upgrading of knowledge and career development. I am honored to receive the Dean’s Award as a valuable recognition for success. I am proud and satisfied that the professional contribution and value of my graduate paper have been recognized, which was not only the result of several months of analysis of the subject of the work but also of five years of acquiring knowledge at the faculty. I consider the Dean's award for the graduate paper as confirmation of the right commitment and a stimulus on the path of lifelong learning. I would also like to thank Prof. Anita Pavković, Ph.D., for mentoring and expert advice during the writing of the paper."

Filip Lisjak - "Analysis of human development using knowledge discovery in databases"
  • Filip graduated in Management Informatics and currently is employed at Deloitte as an analyst in the audit department.
"The knowledge acquired at the faculty has greatly helped me in my current job in the form of understanding the subject and better coping in the engagements themselves. I cannot single out the individual courses that have helped me the most in my current job, but I can say that all the knowledge gained in all the courses I have attended has helped me. The Dean's Award for graduate paper for me is the most beautiful possible completion of my academic education so far, and it is an incentive for me in my further private and professional life. The Dean's Award is the result of the knowledge and experience gained at the FEBZG and is proof that the hard work and effort pay off and that there are institutions and people who recognize this. I would like to thank my mentor Prof. Mirjana Pejić Bach, Ph.D., for the opportunity, help, advice, and that she encouraged me to apply for the Dean's Award."

Lea Rodić - "The effect of state expenditure on social welfare on fertility in EU member states"
  • Degree in Business Economics - Major: Finance
Employed at Erste Bank, Asset and liability management sector
Job description: interest rate risk analysis

During my studies and work at the Faculty as an auxiliary fellow at the Department of Statistics for 4 years and at the Department of Finance for 2 years, I acquired knowledge and skills that are useful and help me in my daily work and career development. For me, the Dean's Award is a reminder that every minute of work and study has paid off, as well as a motivation for further growth and development in the field of finance."
