Congress hall of the Faculty of Economics & Business - Zagreb too small for the lecture of US Ambassador W. Robert Kohorst

Hj. E. W. Robert Kohorst, Ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of Croatia, gave a guest lecture to the more than 600 students in the packed congress hall of the Faculty of Economics & Business - Zagreb.

Ambassador Kohorst visited the Faculty of Economics & Business with regard to obtaining the prestigious American AACSB accreditation awarded by AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), the oldest global accreditation body in the world for higher education institutions in the field of business economics. Accreditation is bestowed to those institutions that have shown excellence in all areas, including teaching, research, curriculum development, and study learning.

"By receiving this accreditation, the Faculty of Economics has entered the community of 5% of the highest quality business schools in the world," pointed Prof. Jurica Pavičić, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Economics & Business and added that in the Faculty's strategy, entrepreneurship, with employment, was defined as a positive outcome of the educational process. Therefore, this is the right time and place for Ambassador Kohorst to offer students an insight into the factors that increase the chances of entrepreneurial success.

As a diplomat from the business world, Ambassador Kohorst advised the audience through his lecture entitled "Four factors that increase the chances for entrepreneurial success" of what he considered necessary for business success and the differences between the Croatian and American systems.

"For the entrepreneurial success, there are four things you need - a good (not necessarily the best) idea, a passion, good partners and a willingness to take risks. In Croatia, it is necessary to take more risks, go boldly forward and never give up. That's the way it is done in the US, and Croatia has the potential to go in that direction, "Ambassador Kohorst said.

This interesting lecture also encouraged many questions from the students and professors in the audience particularly about the business and political situation in Croatia. Along with the students and teachers of the Faculty of Economics & Business, the lecture was attended by students and teachers of other faculties and polytechnics, as well as numerous distinguished guests.
