The seminar and discussion "Assisting Croatia on its Way to the OECD" was held in cooperation with the Embassy of the Slovak Republic

Organized by the Embassy of the Slovak Republic and the Faculty of Economics & Business - Zagreb, on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, a seminar and discussion with students on "Assisting Croatia on its Way to the OECD" was held at the Library and Documentation Center.
 
On January 25, 2022, the Council of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) decided to open the accession process for 6 countries: Argentina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Peru, Romania, and Croatia.

The accession process will look different for each country and will be able to be launched once these countries confirm their commitment to the values, vision, and priorities set out in the OECD Vision Statement and Council of Ministers Statement.

A welcome address on behalf of the Management of the Faculty of Economics & Business - Zagreb, was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Kosjenke Dumančić, Ph.D., Vice Dean for International Cooperation and Projects.
 
This is the second event organized by the Faculty of Economics & Business - Zagreb in cooperation with the Embassy of the Slovak Republic, and the Vice Dean expressed gratitude to the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to the Republic of Croatia, H. E. Peter Susko, for their cooperation.

The experience of the benefits of OECD membership, participants had the opportunity to hear firsthand, from the former Ambassador of the Slovak Republic to the OECD, and the current Secretary of State in the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia - Ms. Ingrid Brockove, Ph.D.
 
Madame Secretary of State pointed out that despite the high criteria during the accession to the OECD, membership in the organization itself opens the door to many opportunities for the member state. For example, with the help of the OECD, Slovakia has successfully created a framework and solutions to the problem of corruption as well as proposals related to economic reform.

Mr. Zdenko Lucić, Univ. spec. oec., State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia explained to the audience what the accession process for Croatia, which is expected to take three years, will look like.

The discussion with students and participants was moderated by Ms.  Ivana Živković, MSc, Director-General for Economic Affairs and Development Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia.

Along with the students, the event was attended by H. E. Peter Susko, Ambassador of the Slovak Republic, H. E. Milan Hovorka, Ambassador of the Czech Republic, Ivan Surkoš, Head of the Office of the State Secretary Ms. Ingrid Brockova, Ph.D., in the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Mr. Jozef Koraček from the Office of the State Secretary Ms. Ingrid Brockove, Ph.D., in the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Mr. Ján Štark, Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Mr. Peter Sedláček, Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, Mr. Tamás Bakó, Head of the Economic Relations Office, Embassy of Hungary, Mr. Botond Riczkó economic relations, the Embassy of Hungary and other distinguished guests from the Representation of the European Commission in Croatia, the Office of the Prime Minister and representatives of other state administration bodies.
