Mathematics



The Department of Mathematics has 12 members. Most of them have degrees in mathematics, others are economists. Therefore most research conducted by this department involves quantitative methods in economics, operational research, financial mathematics, econometrics. Department members take part in projects of the home faculty and Faculty of Natural Sciences.

This department also offers Mathematics course. It is an obligatory course for all first.year students. The department also offers courses in Mathematics for Economists, Econometrics, Financial Mathematics, Mathematical Economics, Mathematical Programming, Operational Research, and in cooperation with the Department of Statistics we offer a course in Quantitative Methods for Business Administration.

We also offer a graduate study programme in Operational Research which is led by Professor Luka Neralić. Within this programme students study quantitative methods in economics, suitable both for mathematicians and economists.
