Professor Vilim Ferišak, PhD, (age 78) passed away couple days ago.
Professor Ferišak is a retired professor at the Faculty of Economics & Business in Zagreb. Throughout his many years of work at the Department of Commerce, he has made remarkable scientific contributions to the development of scientific discipline of procurement management, and has been concerned in particular with the automation and informatization of procurement processes and organization of warehousing. He is a writer of row of books, numerous scientific and professional articles and several university textbooks. He has participated in numerous scientific consultations and expert meetings in the field of procurement management, inventory and warehouse operations. The issues he was dealing with he always linked with practice and argued that a true scientist in the field of economics must have practical experience and theoretical education so that he can perceive and solve business problems by a good quality, but also to share his knowledge appropriately with others.
