Prof. dr. Marijan Hanžeković Trust - online annual awards ceremony, presentation of awarded papers, and announcement of the 2022 competition

Prof. dr. Marijan Hanžeković Trust announces awards for best scientific papers in 2021.

In the regular category, Ms. Ivana Rukavina was awarded for her work Evaluation of macroeconomic outcomes and seven-year membership of Croatia in the European Union.

Ms. Ivana Rukavina, calculating the outcomes of Croatia's accession to the EU, showed that accession halted the decline of almost all observed macroeconomic indicators (GDP per capita, investment,  added value in industry, agriculture, and services, income and savings), and demonstrated in which areas Croatia showed better, in which worse integration results.

In the student category, Patrik Barišić and Tibor Kovač were awarded for their paper The effectiveness of the fiscal policy response to COVID-19 through the lens of short and long-run labor market effects of COVID-19 measures.

Patrik Barišić and Tibor Kovač researched the effectiveness of fiscal measures, such as various subsidies and reliefs, which EU members, including Croatia, applied in the first half of 2020 amid the Corona crisis, and how these measures affect unemployment in the short run and on potential GDP in the long run.

The award ceremony and presentation of the awarded papers will take place on Thursday, January 20 from 10:00 to 11:30 at the Zoom platform, and will be possible to follow after mandatory registration here.
