The Department of Foreign Business Languages of the Faculty of Economics & Business, University of Zagreb in partnership with the European Commission Representation in Croatia and the European Documentation Center of the Faculty of Economics & Business of the University of Zagreb organizes the 7th student competition in English Organize Your Talk and 1st in German Organisieren Sie Ihre Sprache, which will be held on May 17, 2019 at 10 am in Hall 3 (English competition) and at 12 pm in Hall 7 (German competition) at the Faculty of Economics & Business, University of Zagreb.
This year, a total of fifteen teams of four to five students of the first year of the Business Economics and Economics studies are participating in the competition. Their task is to present a topic in the field of economics in English or in German. The aim of the competition is to practice communication skills in English or German, that are key factor in today's business world.
When presenting, students will show how well they use professional terminology and appropriate phrases, and the strength and persuasiveness of the expression will be evaluated as well. Students will also need to demonstrate how thoroughly they explore the selected topic, using various sources. This year, they will have the task of dealing with subject in the context of the European Union, the challenges it faces and its policies. Thereby, it will be also helpful the education on citing and using EU data sources that, together with most students of the first year, they underwent as preparation, organized by EDC-KDC.
The jury, composed of representatives of the European Commission Representation in Croatia, sponsoring companies, representatives of partner university Glasgow Caledonian University and professors and representatives of students from the Faculty of Economics & Business, will select the best teams and award prizes.
The three best teams will be awarded by a visit to the EU institutions in Brussels, in organization of the European Commission Representation in the Republic of Croatia, and other valuable awards are provided by our other partners: FEB ZG, EY, Kraš, Croatian Tourist Board, Goethe-Institut Kroatien, Swiss Embassy, Adecco Croatia and Kaufland Croatia. Some of our partners will organize a guided tours for students to their companies.
