Lecture - Global Legacies of the 2008 Financial Crisis

We invite you to the lecture by Mr. Hans Timmer, World Bank's Chief Economist for Europe and Central Asia, to be held on September 27, 2018 in Hall 7 at 4 p.m.

Global legacies of the 2008 Financial Crisis pose daunting challenges. The application of digital technologies is dramatically changing how markets operate, causing cracks in the social contract, which particularly affects young people who feel that the system is no longer working for them. This, and other discontent triggered by the Financial Crisis has brought about anti-globalization and populist sentiments. Could trade wars, anti-immigration policies, and reversals of integration (like Brexit) lead to short-term disruptions and impair long-term growth potential?

The lecture is organized by the Faculty of Economics & Business and the World Bank.
