Hrvoje Šimović, PhD

Hrvoje Šimović, Ph.D. is professor at Faculty of Economics & Business, University of Zagreb. He obtained his Ph.D. in 2008, then appointed as an assistant professor in 2010, and as an associate professor in 2013. He received Community of Accountants and Financial Officers Awards for best master thesis in finance in 2005, and for best doctoral dissertation in 2009. His field of interest are public finances, fiscal policy and taxation. He is PI for Croatian Science Foundation research project “Public Finance Sustainability on the path to the Monetary Union – PuFiSuMU”, IP-2016-06-4609. He was PI or researcher on other research projects form Croatian Science Foundation (IP-2013-11-8174), University of Zagreb (DP 079, 2015 & 2016), University of Rijeka (13.02.1.2.02) and Ministry of Science, Education and Sports (002-0022469-2465, 006-0661428-1116). Beside regular lectures and classes at Faculty of Economics & Business, he is associate at Faculty of Law (courses “Fiscal Policy” and “Public debt management” at postgraduate doctoral programme Fiscal System and Fiscal Policy) and Faculty of Organization and Informatics (course “Tax Systems” at undergraduate programme Economics of Entrepreneurship). He was visiting scholar and guest lecturer at Alpen-Adria University - Klagenfurt, Cracow University of Economics, Shanghai University of International Business & Economics and SGH Warsaw School of Economics. He is editorial board member for scientific journals Financial Theory and Practice (2012-2016), Public Sector Economics (2017 - ), EFZG Working Paper Series (2013 - ), Notitia - journal for sustainable development (2015 - ). He is member of professional associations: International Institute of Public Finance; National Tax Association; Croatan Economic Association; Scientific Economic Society – Zagreb, and referee for Eastern European Economics, Acta Oeconomica, Ekonomska istraživanja - Economic Research, Financial Theory & Practice, Public Sector Economics, and Croatian Economic Survey.
