4. Databases of structured data: relational model and relational database, transactional and analytical data processing applications
5. Methods of structured data modelling
6. Operations in relational database: relational algebra, SQL
7. Data management functions
8. Data management trends 
Description of general and specific competences (knowledge and skills) to be developed by this course:
Understanding the role of data management in business environment. Mastering of data modelling and utilisation of databases in enterprise information systems. Understanding relational database technology and its application in specific problem domains. Understanding the problem of business data integration. Developing skills of building a database for a given problem.
Teaching methods:
Lectures, seminars, individual work on the project of building database
Additional requirements for students:
 Active participation in classroom activities. Keeping up-to-date with the most recent literature. Writing short papers concerning current topics. Optional participation in different projects.
Assessment/examination method:

Student assessment will be conducted throughout the teaching process (lectures, seminars, individual work on particular problem) and written exam.
