OFEL Dubrovnik 2017

Dubrovnik on the 7th and 8th of April. The main theme of the conference was The Paradoxes of Leadership and Governance in the Postmodern Society. The conference was attended by more than 200 scholars and experts from as many as 27 countries, from all around the world. It focused on the thesis that,  in the dynamic globalized economy, organizations tend to develop contradictory demands. This is why, modern governance and leadership should be oriented towards more creative sense making by seeking more fluid, reflexive and sustainable management strategies. 



A special scientific partner of the conference is the Organization and Management Theory (OMT) division of the Academy of Management, which is the global leading academic association in the field of management. It was funded by the Society for Advancement of Management Studies (SAMS). Last but not least, we must mention conference long term partner, the Academic Network for Corporate Governance in South-East Europe (SEECGAN), which is one of the most influential associations of management scholars and practitioners in Southeast Europe.

The keynote speakers were two globally recognised scholars, Professor Marianne W. Lewis, the acting dean of Cass Business School, City University of London and Marc J. Epstein an eminent professor that held positions at Rice University, Harvard University and INSEAD.

Wanderley from the University Recipe in Brazil, Suchistra Pal and Satyasiba Das from Indian Institute of Management, Marina Dabić, Mislav Ante Omazić, Danijela Miloš Sprčić, Fran Galetić, Davor Labaš, Domagoj Hruška, Ivana Kovač, Tomislav Herceg, Maja Daraboš Longin, Mislav Radić, and Ivan Novak  from the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Zagreb, Joaquin Fontes-Filho, MBA program director from the EBAPE Univetsity in Brazil, Franklin Nakpodia from the Northubria University, UK, Dejan Kružić and Želimir Dulčić from the Faculty of Economics, University of Split, Tineke Lamboooy from the Nyenrode Business University, Netherlands,  Aziz Šunje from the University of Sarajevo, Jeffrey Singfiel from the Regent University, Zdenko Klepić from University of Mostar, Nebojša Stojčić and Tihomir Luković from the University of Dubrovnik, as well as many other experts from across the world.

The conference is organized under the high patronage of the President of the Republic of Croatia Kolinda Grabar Kitarović along with the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports. The delegate of the President of the Republic of Croatia at the conference was Marko Jurčić, her economic advisor. The attendees were greeted by Davorko Obuljen, the acting deputy prefect of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County.
