Kristina Petljak, Ph.D. is working at the Department of Trade at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Zagreb, Croatia. She is giving lectures in graduate courses Retailing Management and Consumer Protection and associate degree course Entrepreneurship. Her research interests include retailing management, with special emphasis on green supply chain managementretail logistics, organic and fair trade food. In January 2014 she gained her PhD at the EDAMBA postgraduate doctoral programme in Business Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Business Zagreb on the topic of 'Green Supply Chain Management in Food Retail'. At the same Faculty, she finished the postgraduate programme Trade Management in 2009 on the topic of 'Distribution channels of organic food products'. She has two years' experience from working in leading Croatian marketing agencies prior to joining University of Zagreb.
 
In her scientific career she has continuously developed professionally in prestigious institutions which are engaged in researching of retailing management and supply chain management:
  • From October to Dezember 2015 she was Visiting scholar at University of Kassel, Chair of Supply Chain Management; 
  • In June 2015 she was awarded AMAC-UK 2015 (United Kingdom Association of Alumni and Friends of Croatian Universities) scholarship for the project 'Oxford-Zagreb REtail-CONNECTION 2015'
  • In May 2015 she was awarded CEEPUS scholarship from Austrian Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy (BMWFW), CEEPUS (CIII-AT-0068) as Visiting lecturer at WU-Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration, course 'Retail Marketing Strategies for Central and Eastern Europe'; 
  • In November 2014 she is ERASMUS + 2014/2015 Visiting lecturer at Lappeeranta University of Techonology, LUT School of Business, Department of Management and International Business, Finland, on courses 'Sustainable strategy and business ethics''External resource management' and 'Assessment of business relationships and tools of supply management';
  • In September 2014 she received a grant from University of Zagreb for participating in the Colloquium on European Research in Retailing 2014 (CERR 2014) conference with the paper 'Looking Backward: On the development of Green supply chain management in food retail';
  • In July 2014 she received a grant from EurOMA and University of Zagreb for participating in 6th EurOMA Summer School in Operations Management, Supply Chain Sustainability, Faculty of Sciences and Technology, University Nova de Lisboa (FCT/UNL), Portugal, with the paper 'Forerunners & followers, drivers & barriers to green supply chain management in food retailing';
  • In April 2014 she received a grant from University of OxfordSaïd Business School, Oxford Institute for Retail Management (OXIRM), Oxford, UK and University of Zagreb for participating in Retail Location Analysis Programme;
  • In July and August 2013, she was partially funded by the Kühne Logistics University (The KLU) for participation in the International Summer School 'Supply Chain and Logistics Management' at the Kühne Logistics University (The KLU) in Hamburg, where she worked with Raymond E. Mason Professor and Director of the Global Supply Chain Forum, Douglas M. Lambert;
  • Based on novelty of her research on the topic of green supply chain management in food retail, she was selected to participate in the '18th European Logistics Association PhD workshop (ELA 2013)' in Schindellegi (Switzerland) in June 2013, which was sponsored by Kühne-Stiftung;
  • In the summer semester of the academic year 2011/2012 she spent time as a Visiting Scholar at the Department of Logistics at the Faculty of Management and Economics and Department of Marketing at the Faculty of Economic Sciences, University of Szczecin. During her stay in Poland she worked extensively with some of the world's leading retailers of food products in the area of her doctoral dissertation;
  • In June and July 2010 she attended a joint program of MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and the Zaragoza Logistics Center (ZLC), 'Zaragoza International Logistics Program' in Zaragoza and at the University of Bergamo, Italy.
She has published 28 scientific papers and 6 professional papers. She participated in many scientific and professional conferences with special focus on retail management and supply chain management. She is a member of the European Association for Education and Research in Commercial Distribution (EAERCD), Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP), European Operations Management Association (EurOMA), The Nordic Logistics Research Network (NOFOMA), Institute for Supply Management (ISM). In addition, she is a member of the Croatian Supply Chain Association and Vice President of the Croatian Association for Consumer Protection. She is continually following the latest trends in the field of supply chain management, with special emphasis on green supply chain management and retail management, in both Croatian and international market. She enjoys finding and developing future talents in the area of retailing and supply chain management.
 
She participated in many scientific and professional conferences with special focus on retail management and supply chain management, such as Colloquium on European Research in Retailing 2014 (University of Bremen, Germany); 2014 Shopper Marketing:in-store, on-line, social and mobile conference (Stockholm School of Economics, Sweden); 15th Joint Seminar of the European Association of Law and Economics and the Geneva AssociationIECPL (University of Girona and Universities of Maastricht and Rotterdam, Spain); Polish Logistics Congress, Logistics 2012, 'Sustainable logistics (people-environment-economy)' (Poznan, Poland); 7th International Conference For Consumer Behaviour, Tourism and Retailing Research (Escola Superior de Hotelaria e Turismo de Estoril (ESHTE) and Estoril Higher Institute for Tourism and Hotel studies, Estoril, Portugal). 

She is researcher on the following projects: 
  • 'Fostering HKO in higher education institutions in the field of economics - ECONQUAL' (2016)
  • 'Evaluating corporate social responsibility (CSR) at the point of sale from the new parents perspective' financed by the Croatian Government and the Federal Government of the Republic of Austria. Project leaders: Professor Sanda Renko, PhD. And Assistant Professor Eva Lienbacher, PhD. (2016-2017);
  • 'Proactivity in fostering environmental sustainability between trade and tourism' funded by the University of Zagreb. Project leader: Professor Sanda Renko, PhD. (project in progress, started in 2015).
  • 'Distribution Channel Modelling for Organic Food and Consumer Protection in Croatia' funded by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports. Project leader: Professor Vesna Brčić Stipčević (2008-2012).
  • In 2009 she was a part-time researcher on the FP7 research project financed by the European Commission, 'FOCUS-BALCANS, Food Consumer Science in the Balkans: Frameworks, Protocols and Networks for a Better Knowledge of Food Behaviours'.
She was working on the PHARE 2005 twinning project 'Market Surveillance System in the Field of Technical Products', New principles of product safety supervision in accordance with the European Union's New Approach (European Union Information Center, Zagreb, Croatia), CARDS 2004 twinning project 'Further Capacity Building in the Area of Consumer Protection', Legislation in the field of distance selling and Implementation of campaign for informing consumers (Croatian Ministry of Economy, Labour and Entrepreneurship, Zagreb, Croatia). 

She is an excellent communicator and motivator in the workplace, ready to take the initiative, very social, adaptive and proactive. In her free time she is travel-companion (exam passed in accordance with the criteria of Association of Croatian Travel Agencies - UHPA), plays chess, is fencing and scuba diving. She is fully embracing international education and appreciates international experience.
