Faculty of Economics celebrated 96th anniversary

 Faculty of Economics in Zagreb celebrated the Day of the Faculty and the 96th anniversary on 1st December 2016. In his opening address, dean prof. PhD Lajoš Žager looked back on a long tradition, emphasizing the development of new study programs, achievements in the field of international cooperation, organization and implementation of conferences and projects involving teachers and students from the Faculty of Economics Zagreb and publishing activities of the Faculty.

Prof. PhD Damir Boras, Rector of the University of Zagreb, the Minister of Labour and Pension System doc. PhD Tomislav Ćorić who spoke on behalf of the Prime Minister Mr. Andrej Plenković and g. Marko Jurčić, the envoy of the Republic of Croatia Kolinda Grabar Kitarović made the celebration even more special.

Among the many guests were the Deputy Minister of Science and Education prof. PhD Srećko Tomas, provosts Zagreb University professor. PhD Tonći Lazibat, prof. PhD Miljenko Šimpraga, prof. Ph. D.. Mirjana Hruškar, rectors of the University of Split and President of the Rectors' Conference of prof. PhD Simon Anđelinović, Rector of the University of Pula prof. PhD Alfio Barbieri, Head of the Representation of the European Commission mr. sc. Branko Baričević, vice-rectors of other universities, academics, professors emeriti, and other representatives of economic and social actors of the City of Zagreb and Croatia, deans, University of Zagreb and other faculties in Croatia and the region.

Prizes were awarded for scientific works in the field of economic science "Mijo Mirković". The best students of the Faculty of Economics Zagreb were awarded the Dean's Award for success in studies, papers and extracurricular activities.

Celebration Day of the Faculty was magnified by the appropriate program performed by the choir of Faculty of Economics - Sonus oeconomicus.

The main ceremony was preceded by the official opening of the European Documentation Centres. On this occasion was signed a cooperation agreement with the European Commission Representation in Croatia. The participants were addressed by the dean prof. PhD Lajoš Žager, head of the Representation of the European Commission mr. sc. Branko Baričević, rector of Zagreb University professor. PhD Damir Boras and the envoy of the President of the Republic of Croatia g. Marko Jurčić.

To mark the 96th anniversary, an exhibition of paintings by a young artist and former student of the Faculty of Economics Mislav Stipić called First derivative  is set in the atrium of the Congress Hall. The exhibition will be open to the public until 23 December 2016.
