Course Contents:
1. Introduction into business process management.
2. Business process change and IT implementation.
3. Business process management system definition.
4. Overview of business process modelling methods.
5. Overview, analysis and comparison of business process modelling, analysis and management tools.
6. Business process repository as a foundation for IS development.
7. Discrete event simulaton as a method for business process management.
8. Business process management systems development.
9. Measurement of costs, performances and outcomes of business process management systems.
10. Integration of knowledge management and business process management systems.
Description of general and specific competences (knowledge and skills) to be developed by this course:
Students are introduced to methods and the development process of the system for business process management and on methods for business process modelling and on the interconnectivity between business process management and its IT implementation projects. The course aims at developing the knowledge and skills related to information technology (IT) and business process modelling (BPM). Students gain specific knowledge about the tools for managing business processes, discuss practical examples and are trained to lead business change projects.
Teaching methods:
Lectures, seminars, exercises, group project development and project presentation.
Additional requirements for students:
 Active in-class participation in all forms of instruction. Keeping up-to-date with the most recent literature. Internet research. Visiting the companies for project development purposes.
Assessment/examination method:

 Student knowledge evaluation will be performed in classes while working with students (lectures, exercises, term papera). The final grade will be formed on the basis of continuous assessment and by a written exam. Different forms of assessment are allocated as follows to make up the final grade: 10% for class participation, 30% for team project evaluation, 30% for term paper, and 30% written exam.

Course and teaching quality assurance method (method of monitoring the quality of the course and its teaching):
