ITHAS 2011

The official opening of the 1. year of the Bachelor Degree in Business study will be on Monday, October 4th at 2 pm at room number 14. All 1.year BDiB students and other BDiB students are kindly invited to participate in a short opening ceremony.
The Department of Tourism, Faculty of Economics & Business, University of Zagreb organised a special intensive education program ITHAS (International Tourism and Hospitality Academy at Sea) for the sixth time this year. The topic was “Physical Planning in Tourism” and ITHAS combined theoretical lectures, meetings with local tourism experts, as well as practical experience in terms of witnessing good and less good examples of physical planning in the real environment. Considering the topic the route was well planned and the programme took place within a cruise along the south Adriatic Coast. It included visits to three countries Croatia (Dubrovnik, Elaphite islands, Makarska, Trogir), Montenegro (Kotor, Cetinje, Budva, Bečići) and Albania (Durres, Kruja, Shkoder). 110 students from many different countries (Croatia, Slovenia, Germany, Finland, Uganda, Thailand, Taiwan, Ethiopia and Bangladesh) participated this year. ITHAS lecturers were Julio Aramberri, Larry Dwyer, William C. Gartner, the most prominent tourism professors. Besides University of Zagreb, Faculty of Economics & Business who was the host institution, three more international universities participated in this year’s programme: Jyväskylä Polytechnik, School of Tourism and services Management, Finland; Munich University of Applied Sciences, Department of Tourism, Germany; University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Economics, Slovenia. The initiator and head of this project is Professor Nevenka Čavlek, PhD.
