Conference "Digitization Index - Potential and Obstacles to the Faster Growth"

The Conference "Digitization Index - The Potential and Obstacles to Faster Growth" will start on July 2, 2018 at 12 noon in the Congress Hall of the Faculty of Economics & Business in Zagreb.

The conference is organized by the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Zagreb, the Institute of Economics - Zagreb, the Faculty of Organization and Informatics of the University of Zagreb and the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Rijeka.

For the first time, the conference will present key findings about the degree of digitization of Croatia, within the wider international study "The Impact of Digital Transformation on Western Balkan Countries". It is the first study that has computed digitization indices of six countries of Western Balkan and put them in mutual relationship. The study confirmed a strong incentive of digitalization to the economic and social development. It is estimated that the increase in the general level of digitization of 10% permanently increases the GDP growth rate by 0.63%, and that the increase of 1% digitization in manufacturing companies permanently increases employment by 1.2%. Specific recommendations will be presented for removing obstacles that slow down the digital development of Croatia.

The study, produced in the organization of the WB6 Regional Initiative on Digitalization of the Western Balkans, will be introduced by research leaders:
  • Maruška Vizek, Ph. D., Director of the Institute of Economics, Zagreb
  • Professor Florian Bieber, Head of the Center for Studies of South East Europe University of Graz

After the presentation of the study, will follow an interesting panel discussion on the results of the study, in which key stakeholders in the digitalization process of Croatia will share their views on how to accelerate the digitization process and exploit its full potential.
We invite you to join us in an interesting discussion!
