Assistant Professor Morana Fudurić, Ph.D. won the Journal of Advertising Award for Best Scientific Paper in 2019

​At the American Academy of Advertising (AAA) Virtual Conference, March 28, 2020, as part of the ceremony, the winners of the 2019 Best Scientific Contributions and Research Awards were announced. 
Assistant Professor Morana Fudurić, Ph.D. won the prestigious award for the best scientific article published in 2019 in Journal of Advertising, for the article "An Algorithm for Allocating Sponsored Recommendations and Content: Unifying Programmatic Advertising and Recommender Systems" co-authored with Edward Malthouse, Yasaman Kamyab Hessary and Khadija Vakeel of the Northwestern University, and Robin Burke of the University of Colorado. The paper develops an algorithm that optimizes two opposing goals: customer usefulness and the interests of advertisers on an online platform.
The award has been awarded since 1988 to the authors of the best article published each year. Papers are nominated by journal reviewers; the chairman of the AAA Publications Committee prepares a list of finalists to be voted on by the members of the Publications Committee. During the AAA annual conference, the authors are awarded $ 500 and a plaque.
